“The shoe is very important. I can’t even fuck with you if your shoe game is slacking.” Well said, well said, I couldn’t have put it any better. In an interview with Refinery29.com, Solange Knowles opens up about her style heroes and why shoes are her secret weapon to style. She states that her style is a blend of Diana Ross, The Fela Kuti Queens, Björk, ’70s-era Chaka Khan, Chloë Sevigny, ’90s Erykah Badu and her mom in the ’70s and ’80s. Yet, what I love the most about her is her respect and appreciation for the shoe game. Whether you know it or not, your choice in shoes speaks volumes about the type of person you are. They say not to judge a book by its cover, but when you’re dealing with shoes, you can throw that saying out the window. Shoes provide information on where you are in your life mentally, your fashion direction, most of the time – your financial situation, where your interest lie, and if you’re conservative, outgoing, daring or experimental. Not only does it piece outfits together, but in my opinion it completes them. How important are shoes to you? Do you agree or disagree with Solange’s view?
