“The shoe is very important. I can’t even fuck with you if your shoe game is slacking.” Well said, well said, I couldn’t have put it any better. In an interview with Refinery29.com, Solange Knowles opens up about her style heroes and why shoes are her secret weapon to style. She states that her style is a blend of Diana Ross, The Fela Kuti Queens, Björk, ’70s-era Chaka Khan, Chloë Sevigny, ’90s Erykah Badu and her mom in the ’70s and ’80s. Yet, what I love the most about her is her respect and appreciation for the shoe game. Whether you know it or not, your choice in shoes speaks volumes about the type of person you are. They say not to judge a book by its cover, but when you’re dealing with shoes, you can throw that saying out the window. Shoes provide information on where you are in your life mentally, your fashion direction, most of the time – your financial situation, where your interest lie, and if you’re conservative, outgoing, daring or experimental. Victoria Beckham, ex-Spice Girl and wife of popular soccer star David Beckham, was spotted in a pair of Christian Louboutin Calypso Swarvoski Crystals pumps ($3,595) in blue/black. The Calypso was designed in collaboration with Phillip Lim of 3.1 Phillip Lim and Scottish designer Jonathan Saunders for the Fall/Winter 2009. Besides Christian Louboutin’s signature red bottom, this Calypso features a suede upper completely covered in Swarvoski crystals with black and a blue toe cap.

Jimmy Choo Pre-Fall 2010 Women Sneakers

It seems like Christian Louboutin isn’t the only one starting up a brand new shoe line, because news has recently surfaced that Jimmy Choo is expanding beyond their popular heels and stilettos with the inclusion of high-end sneakers for women. Set to be released in the Pre Fall 2010 collection, the new Jimmy Choo shoe line will consist of 8 pairs of sneakers featuring patent leather, suede, and exotic Elaphe snake skin with a striking star motif sole. The collection will be available at all Jimmy Choo stores and the online store by May 2010 in white, black, purple and beige. Price is expected to be marked around (approx. $461) for low tops and (approx. $617) for high top sneakers. While it is known that Jimmy Choo is strictly a women’s shoe brand, I wonder if this sneaker release implies that a mens shoe line is in the works.

2009 was a great year for Lanvin footwear due in part to the significant attention boost they received after First Lady Michelle Obama was spotted twice wearing thier low top sneakers. It appears that Lanvin aims to the capitalize on last year’s momentum by introducing some exciting new designs for their Lanvin Womens Spring/Summer 2010 sneaker collection. Lead by artistic director Alber Elbaz, the Lanvin womens sneakers collection focused on fun party designs with exotic and spring colors. Also, Lanvin continued with their memorable womens sneaker silhouette with toe caps and jumbo laces. Priced from ($490 to $591).
